MOONEYES

MOONEYES is one of the most recognizable brands in hot-rod and custom car culture, known worldwide for its iconic pair of cartoon eyes. Founded as MOON Automotive (later MOON Equipment) around 1950 by Dean Moon in Santa Fe Springs, California, the company built speed parts and accessories — Moon discs, fuel tanks, valve covers, and more — that became staples of American hot-rodding, drag racing, and Bonneville land-speed efforts.

The famous eyes logo grew out of Dean’s habit of typing “MOON” with pupils in the O’s and was redrawn by a Disney artist in 1957. After Dean’s death in 1987, Japanese hot-rod enthusiast Shige Suganuma and partner Chico Kodama revived the company as Mooneyes USA in 1992, keeping the Santa Fe Springs shop alive while expanding the brand across Japan and internationally. Today MOONEYES remains a lifestyle and parts brand spanning cars, bikes, apparel, and events.
